An outstanding English majolica server/compote attributed to Thomas Forester. Well defined leaves and flowers in relief within the well. within the well. Mottled green and brown reminiscent of George Jones around the bowl exterior. Set on a base of pond lily leaves

CONDITION: Extremely fine condition with no cracks, chips or glaze loss. Very fine crazing observable with loupe on the underside
The work of Thomas Forester is identified by his exceptionally delicate floral and foliage decorations. The early work of the firm is never marked but the color palette and resemblance to work by Minton, where Forester was a lead designer, signals the authenticity of this piece. Moreover, the piece was submitted for opinion of the experts at the Majolica International Society, who confirmed the opinion that this is indeed a Forester piece.
